During 1970s, he keenly observed the Seafood Industry of West Bengal and realized its long-term potential due to huge demand of seafood products in Japan and US markets and the growing trend of shrimp farming among locals. Consequently he focused his attention on high value shrimp and set out as a supplier of seafood to the various processing units and export houses. In the mid-1980s, his trustworthiness with shrimp farmers and exporters, cultivated over more than a decade, earned him the sole agency for procurement of raw materials for various export units of Marin products in Kolkata.
He was in regular interaction with farmers in remote villages of West Bengal, encouraging them to produce shrimps by providing necessary assistance. This way he created an uninterrupted supply chain of shrimps to many of the renowned export firms.
His long-term objective and underlying desire to surge to the top of the chain crystalized in 2000 with the advent of his own export house,
‘S.A. Exports’.
Under his leadership, S.A. Exports excelled in its run, and is now one of the leading seafood exporters in Eastern India. Today, he has earned the reputation of a pioneer in Seafood Industry due to his close and long-standing association with farmers in consistent and collective growth. |
